North York condo questions
What area counts as North York?
North York is a former city that is now part of the City of Toronto. The Toronto Regional Real Estate Board (TRREB) publishes no North York geography, so this site uses the TRREB communities whose same-named City of Toronto neighbourhood sits inside the City's former North York boundary. The Yonge and Lawrence guide also covers Lawrence Park North, which sat in the old City of Toronto.
How much does a condo cost in North York?
TRREB publishes no North York-wide average, so prices are quoted by district. In August 2026 TRREB recorded 52 condo apartment sales in Toronto C14 at an average of $555,815 and 52 in Toronto C15 at an average of $619,237. One month of district sales is a small sample. These figures are general information and not an appraisal.
Which land transfer taxes does a North York condo buyer pay?
North York is inside the City of Toronto, so a buyer pays both the Ontario land transfer tax and the Toronto municipal land transfer tax. A qualifying first-time buyer can receive an Ontario refund of up to $4,000 and a Toronto rebate of up to $4,475. Confirm what applies to you with a real estate lawyer.
Which subway lines serve North York condos?
Line 1 Yonge-University has two branches in North York. The Yonge branch stops at Sheppard-Yonge, North York Centre and Finch. The University branch stops at Yorkdale, Wilson and Downsview Park. Line 4 Sheppard runs from Sheppard-Yonge to Don Mills station through Bayview, Bessarion and Leslie. Don Valley Station on Line 5 Eglinton is at Eglinton Avenue East and Don Mills Road.
What is a status certificate?
A status certificate is a document from a condominium corporation about a unit and the corporation. It includes the budget, the last audited financial statements, a statement on the reserve fund, the common expenses for the unit and any special assessments. The Condominium Authority of Ontario says anyone can request one, the corporation can charge up to $100 including taxes and it must be provided within 10 days.
Is there a cooling-off period when buying a condo?
Buyers of a pre-construction condo from a developer in Ontario have a 10-day cooling-off period in which they can cancel the agreement of purchase and sale, according to the Condominium Authority of Ontario. The sources we checked do not extend this right to resale condo purchases. Ask a real estate lawyer how it applies to your agreement.
